The young man must have looked at her with a rather peculiar expression, for a gleam of mistrust came into her eyes again.

Der junge Mann muss sie mit einem ziemlich seltsamen Ausdruck angesehen haben, denn ein Schimmer des Misstrauens trat wieder in ihre Augen.

The old woman paused, as though hesitating; then stepped on one side, and pointing to the door of the room, she said, letting her visitor pass in front of her:

Die alte Frau hielt inne, als ob sie zögerte; dann trat sie zur Seite und deutete auf die Tür des Zimmers, ließ ihren Besucher an sich vorbei und sagte:

The little room into which the young man walked, with yellow paper on the walls, geraniums and muslin curtains in the windows, was brightly lighted up at that moment by the setting sun.

Das kleine Zimmer, in das der junge Mann trat, mit gelbem Papier an den Wänden, Geranien und Musselin-Vorhängen an den Fenstern, war in jenem Moment von der untergehenden Sonne hell erleuchtet.

But there was nothing special in the room.
