Romeo and Juliet — Page 10

English → It ACT I Level 9/10

The earth hath swallowed all my hopes but she,

She is the hopeful lady of my earth:

Lei è la speranzosa signora della mia terra:

But woo her, gentle Paris, get her heart,

Ma corteggiala, gentile Paride, conquistale il cuore,

My will to her consent is but a part;

La mia volontà rispetto al suo consenso è solo una parte;

And she agree, within her scope of choice

Lies my consent and fair according voice.

Risiede il mio consenso e il mio giusto accordo.

This night I hold an old accustom'd feast,

Questa notte tengo un antico banchetto tradizionale,

Whereto I have invited many a guest,

Al quale ho invitato molti ospiti,

Such as I love, and you among the store,

One more, most welcome, makes my number more.

At my poor house look to behold this night

Earth-treading stars that make dark heaven light:

Stelle che calpestano la terra e illuminano il cielo oscuro:

Such comfort as do lusty young men feel

Tale conforto come provano i giovani vigorosi

When well apparell'd April on the heel

Quando l'Aprile ben adornato alle calcagna

Of limping winter treads, even such delight

Dell'inverno zoppicante cammina, tale diletto

Among fresh female buds shall you this night

Tra freschi boccioli femminili questa notte voi

Inherit at my house. Hear all, all see,

Erediterete a casa mia. Ascoltate tutti, vedete tutti,

And like her most whose merit most shall be:

E prediligete colei il cui merito sarà il maggiore:

Which, on more view of many, mine, being one,

May stand in number, though in reckoning none.

Come, go with me. Go, sirrah, trudge about

Venite, andate con me. Va', messere, gira intorno

Through fair Verona; find those persons out

Per la bella Verona; trova quelle persone

Whose names are written there, [_gives a paper_] and to them say,

I cui nomi sono scritti lì, [_porge un foglio_] e di' loro,

My house and welcome on their pleasure stay.

[_Exeunt Capulet and Paris._]

[_Escono Capuleti e Paride._]

SERVANT.
