Great art Thou, O Lord, and greatly to be praised; great is Thy power, and Thy wisdom infinite.

Chúa thật vĩ đại, lạy Chúa, và đáng được ca ngợi biết bao; quyền năng Chúa thật lớn lao, và sự khôn ngoan của Chúa vô tận.

And Thee would man praise; man, but a particle of Thy creation; man, that bears about him his mortality, the witness of his sin, the witness that Thou resistest the proud: yet would man praise Thee; he, but a particle of Thy creation.

Và con người muốn ca ngợi Chúa; con người, chỉ là một hạt nhỏ trong công trình tạo dựng của Chúa; con người mang trong mình sự hữu hạn của kiếp người, bằng chứng của tội lỗi mình, bằng chứng rằng Chúa chống lại kẻ kiêu ngạo: thế mà con người vẫn muốn ca ngợi Chúa; người ấy, chỉ là một hạt nhỏ trong công trình tạo dựng của Chúa.

Thou awakest us to delight in Thy praise; for Thou madest us for Thyself, and our heart is restless, until it repose in Thee.

Chúa đánh thức chúng con để vui mừng ca ngợi Chúa; vì Chúa đã dựng nên chúng con cho chính Chúa, và lòng chúng con không yên, cho đến khi được nghỉ ngơi trong Chúa.

Grant me, Lord, to know and understand which is first, to call on Thee or to praise Thee? and, again, to know Thee or to call on Thee?

Xin Chúa cho con biết và hiểu điều nào trước, kêu cầu Chúa hay ca ngợi Chúa? và, hơn nữa, biết Chúa hay kêu cầu Chúa?

for who can call on Thee, not knowing Thee? for he that knoweth Thee not, may call on Thee as other than Thou art.

vì ai có thể kêu cầu Chúa mà không biết Chúa? vì kẻ không biết Chúa, có thể kêu cầu Chúa như thể Ngài là Đấng khác với bản thân Ngài.

Or, is it rather, that we call on Thee that we may know Thee? but how shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? or how shall they believe without a preacher?

Hay là, phải chăng chúng con kêu cầu Chúa để được biết Chúa? nhưng làm sao họ kêu cầu Đấng mà họ chưa tin? hay làm sao họ tin mà không có người rao giảng?

and they that seek the Lord shall praise Him: for they that seek shall find Him, and they that find shall praise Him.

và những ai tìm kiếm Chúa sẽ ca ngợi Ngài: vì những ai tìm kiếm sẽ gặp được Ngài, và những ai gặp được sẽ ca ngợi Ngài.

I will seek Thee, Lord, by calling on Thee; and will call on Thee, believing in Thee; for to us hast Thou been preached.

Con sẽ tìm kiếm Chúa, lạy Chúa, bằng cách kêu cầu Ngài; và sẽ kêu cầu Ngài, với lòng tin vào Ngài; vì Chúa đã được rao giảng cho chúng con.

My faith, Lord, shall call on Thee, which Thou hast given me, wherewith Thou hast inspired me, through the Incarnation of Thy Son, through the ministry of the Preacher.
