A Mad Tea-Party
집 앞 나무 아래 테이블이 차려져 있었고, 3월 토끼와 모자 장수가 그곳에서 차를 마시고 있었다. 그들 사이에는 겨울잠쥐가 앉아 있었는데, 깊이 잠들어 있었고, 나머지 둘은 그것을 쿠션처럼 사용하며 팔꿈치를 그 위에 기대고 그것의 머리 너머로 이야기하고 있었다.
There was a table set out under a tree in front of the house, and the March Hare and the Hatter were having tea at it: a Dormouse was sitting between them, fast asleep, and the other two were using it as a cushion, resting their elbows on it, and talking over its head.
"겨울잠쥐에게는 아주 불편하겠네," 앨리스는 생각했다. "하지만 자고 있으니까 신경 쓰지 않겠지."
"Very uncomfortable for the Dormouse," thought Alice; "only, as it's asleep, I suppose it doesn't mind."
테이블은 컸지만, 세 명은 모두 한쪽 구석에 옹기종기 모여 있었다.
The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it:
"자리 없어! 자리 없어!" 그들은 앨리스가 오는 것을 보고 외쳤다.
"No room! No room!" they cried out when they saw Alice coming.
"자리가 충분히 있잖아요!" 앨리스가 분개하여 말하고는, 테이블 한쪽 끝의 큰 안락의자에 앉았다.
"There's plenty of room!" said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table.
"포도주 좀 드세요," 3월 토끼가 격려하는 어조로 말했다.
"Have some wine," the March Hare said in an encouraging tone.
앨리스는 테이블을 둘러보았지만, 차 외에는 아무것도 없었다.
Alice looked all round the table, but there was nothing on it but tea.
"포도주가 안 보이는데요," 그녀가 말했다.
"I don't see any wine," she remarked.
"없어요," 3월 토끼가 말했다.
"There isn't any," said the March Hare.
"그럼 그걸 권하다니 예의가 없네요," 앨리스가 화를 내며 말했다.
"Then it wasn't very civil of you to offer it," said Alice angrily.
"초대받지도 않고 앉다니 당신도 예의가 없네요," 3월 토끼가 말했다.
"It wasn't very civil of you to sit down without being invited," said the March Hare.
"이게 당신 테이블인 줄 몰랐어요," 앨리스가 말했다. "세 명보다 훨씬 많은 사람을 위해 차려져 있잖아요."
"I didn't know it was your table," said Alice; "it's laid for a great many more than three."
"머리를 잘라야겠네요," 모자 장수가 말했다.
"Your hair wants cutting," said the Hatter.

He had been looking at Alice for some time with great curiosity, and this was his first speech.
