for deciding all questions of literature and politics without troubling themselves with unnecessary reasons or arguments;

교구 내 모든 사람들의 사정에 대해 명확하고 정확한 지식을 얻는 일,

for obtaining clear and correct knowledge of everybody's affairs in the parish;

단정한 하녀들을 훌륭하게 관리하는 일,

for keeping their neat maid-servants in admirable order;

가난한 이들에 대한 (다소 독단적이긴 하지만) 친절함, 그리고 서로가 어려움에 처했을 때 진심 어린 따뜻한 도움을 베푸는 일, 이 모든 것에 있어 크랜퍼드의 숙녀들은 완전히 충분하다.

for kindness (somewhat dictatorial) to the poor, and real tender good offices to each other whenever they are in distress, the ladies of Cranford are quite sufficient.
