아침의 잿빛이 걷히고 태양이 먼 지평선 위로 높이 떠올랐다.

The grey of the morning has passed, and the sun is high over the distant horizon,

그 지평선은 들쭉날쭉해 보이는데, 나무인지 언덕인지 알 수가 없다.

which seems jagged, whether with trees or hills I know not,

너무 멀리 있어서 큰 것과 작은 것이 뒤섞여 보이기 때문이다.

for it is so far off that big things and little are mixed.

나는 졸리지 않고, 깰 때까지 부르지 않아도 된다고 했으니 자연스레 잠이 올 때까지 글을 쓴다.

I dined on what they called "robber steak"--

포도주는 골든 메디아슈였는데, 혀에 묘한 자극을 주었지만 그리 불쾌하지는 않았다.
