"네, 알아요," 웬디는 다소 슬프게 인정했다. "저만큼 그걸 잘 아는 사람은 없어요."

"Yes, I know," Wendy admitted rather forlornly; "no one knows it so well as I."

"안녕," 피터가 웬디에게 말했다. 그는 공중으로 날아올랐고, 부끄러움을 모르는 제인도 그와 함께 날아올랐다. 그것은 이미 제인에게 가장 쉬운 이동 방식이 되어 있었다.

"Good-bye," said Peter to Wendy; and he rose in the air, and the shameless Jane rose with him; it was already her easiest way of moving about.

Wendy rushed to the window.

"No, no," she cried.

"봄맞이 대청소 때문이에요," 제인이 말했다. "피터는 항상 제가 봄맞이 대청소를 해주길 원하거든요."

"It is just for spring cleaning time," Jane said, "he wants me always to do his spring cleaning."

"나도 함께 갈 수 있다면 좋을 텐데," 웬디가 한숨을 쉬었다.

"If only I could go with you," Wendy sighed.

"있잖아요, 아줌마는 날 수가 없잖아요," 제인이 말했다.

"You see you can't fly," said Jane.

물론 결국 웬디는 그들이 함께 날아가도록 내버려 두었다. 그녀의 마지막 모습은 창가에 서서 그들이 하늘 속으로 점점 멀어져 별처럼 작아질 때까지 바라보는 것이었다.

Of course in the end Wendy let them fly away together. Our last glimpse of her shows her at the window, watching them receding into the sky until they were as small as stars.

As you look at Wendy, you may see her hair becoming white, and her figure little again, for all this happened long ago. Jane is now a common grown-up, with a daughter called Margaret; and every spring cleaning time, except when he forgets, Peter comes for Margaret and takes her to the Neverland, where she tells him stories about himself, to which he listens eagerly.

마거릿이 자라면 딸을 낳을 것이고, 그 딸이 차례로 피터의 어머니 역할을 하게 될 것이다. 그리고 이렇게 아이들이 명랑하고 순수하며 무심한 한, 이 이야기는 영원히 계속될 것이다.

When Margaret grows up she will have a daughter, who is to be Peter's mother in turn; and thus it will go on, so long as children are gay and innocent and heartless.
