Romeo and Juliet — Page 7

English → De ACT I Level 9/10

Here's much to do with hate, but more with love:

Hier ist viel mit Hass zu tun, aber mehr mit Liebe:

Why, then, O brawling love! O loving hate!

Warum denn, o streitende Liebe! O liebender Hass!

O anything, of nothing first create!

O alles, aus nichts zuerst erschaffen!

O heavy lightness! serious vanity!

O schwere Leichtigkeit! ernste Eitelkeit!

Misshapen chaos of well-seeming forms!

Missgestaltetes Chaos wohlgeformter Gestalten!

Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health!

Feder aus Blei, heller Rauch, kaltes Feuer, kranke Gesundheit!

Still-waking sleep, that is not what it is!

This love feel I, that feel no love in this.

Dost thou not laugh?

Lachst du nicht?

No coz, I rather weep.

Nein, Vetter, ich weine lieber.

Good heart, at what?

Gutes Herz, worüber denn?

At thy good heart's oppression.

Über die Bedrängnis deines guten Herzens.

Why such is love's transgression.

Nun, das ist die Verfehlung der Liebe.

Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast,

Eigener Kummer lastet schwer auf meiner Brust,

Which thou wilt propagate to have it prest

With more of thine.

Mit deinem eigenen.

This love that thou hast shown

Diese Liebe, die du gezeigt hast,

Doth add more grief to too much of mine own.

Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs;

Liebe ist ein Rauch, gemacht aus dem Dunst der Seufzer;

Being purg'd, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;

Geläutert, ein Feuer, das in Liebenden Augen funkelt;

Being vex'd, a sea nourish'd with lovers' tears:

Getrübt, ein Meer, genährt von Liebestränen:

What is it else? A madness most discreet,

Was ist es sonst? Ein höchst besonnener Wahnsinn,

A choking gall, and a preserving sweet.

Eine würgende Bitternis und eine erhaltende Süße.

Farewell, my coz.

Lebt wohl, mein Vetter.

[_Going._]

[_Geht ab._]

Soft! I will go along:

Halt! Ich komme mit:

And if you leave me so, you do me wrong.

Tut! I have lost myself; I am not here.

Pah!

This is not Romeo, he's some other where.

Tell me in sadness who is that you love?

Sag mir im Ernst, wen du liebst?

What, shall I groan and tell thee?

Groan! Why, no; but sadly tell me who.
