English → It THE SONNETS Level 9/10

Though yet heaven knows it is but as a tomb

Which hides your life, and shows not half your parts:

If I could write the beauty of your eyes,

And in fresh numbers number all your graces,

E in versi freschi enumerare tutte le tue grazie,

The age to come would say this poet lies,

I posteri direbbero che questo poeta mente,

Such heavenly touches ne'er touched earthly faces.

Tali tocchi celesti non sfiorarono mai volti terreni.

So should my papers (yellowed with their age)

Così le mie carte (ingiallite dal tempo)

Be scorned, like old men of less truth than tongue,

And your true rights be termed a poet's rage,

And stretched metre of an antique song.

But were some child of yours alive that time,

You should live twice,—in it, and in my rhyme.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Potrò paragonarti a un giorno d'estate?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Tu sei più bello e più mite:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

I venti impetuosi scuotono i teneri boccioli di maggio,

And summer's lease hath all too short a date:

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

A volte l'occhio del cielo splende troppo ardente,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed,

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

E ogni bellezza dalla bellezza a volte decade,

By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed:

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,

Ma la tua estate eterna non appassirà,

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st,

Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st,

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

Finché gli uomini potranno respirare o gli occhi potranno vedere,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Tanto a lungo vivrà questo, e questo darà vita a te.
