Look in thy glass and tell the face thou viewest,

Olha no teu espelho e diz à face que vês,

Now is the time that face should form another,

Whose fresh repair if now thou not renewest,

Cuja fresca renovação se agora não restaurares,

Thou dost beguile the world, unbless some mother.

Enganas o mundo, privas alguma mãe de bênção.

For where is she so fair whose uneared womb

Disdains the tillage of thy husbandry?

Despreza o cultivo do teu labor?

Or who is he so fond will be the tomb

Of his self-love to stop posterity?

Do seu amor-próprio para deter a posteridade?

Thou art thy mother's glass and she in thee

Tu és o espelho de tua mãe e ela em ti

Calls back the lovely April of her prime,

Evoca o belo Abril do seu auge,

So thou through windows of thine age shalt see,

Assim tu, pelas janelas da tua velhice, verás,

Despite of wrinkles this thy golden time.

Apesar das rugas, este teu tempo dourado.

But if thou live remembered not to be,

Mas se viveres para não seres lembrado,

Die single and thine image dies with thee.

Morre solteiro e tua imagem morre contigo.

Unthrifty loveliness why dost thou spend,

Beleza pródiga, por que desperdiças,

Upon thyself thy beauty's legacy?

Nature's bequest gives nothing but doth lend,

And being frank she lends to those are free:

E sendo generosa, ela empresta aos que são livres:

Then beauteous niggard why dost thou abuse,

Então, belo avarento, por que abusas,

The bounteous largess given thee to give?

Profitless usurer why dost thou use

Inútil usurário, por que empregas

So great a sum of sums yet canst not live?

For having traffic with thyself alone,

Pois ao negociar apenas contigo mesmo,

Thou of thyself thy sweet self dost deceive,

A ti mesmo o teu doce eu enganas,

Then how when nature calls thee to be gone,

Então, quando a natureza te chamar a partir,

What acceptable audit canst thou leave?

Que prestação de contas aceitável podes deixar?

Thy unused beauty must be tombed with thee,

Which used lives th' executor to be.
