«Usted debe quedarse con ella», dijo la señorita Bartlett, parte de cuyos gastos de viaje eran pagados por la madre de Lucy, un gesto de generosidad al que ella hacía frecuentes y discretas alusiones.

"You must have it," said Miss Bartlett, part of whose travelling expenses were paid by Lucy's mother—a piece of generosity to which she made many a tactful allusion.

«No, no. Usted debe quedarse con ella.»

"No, no. You must have it."

«Insisto en ello. Su madre jamás me lo perdonaría, Lucy.»

"I insist on it. Your mother would never forgive me, Lucy."

«Ella jamás me lo perdonaría a mí.»

"She would never forgive me."
