Come here and lie down in my lap and I will scratch your heads," said the _Princess_.

He did so, and when he was snoring at his best she put stools and cushions under the heads so that she could get away to call the hens.

트롤이 그렇게 하여 코를 골며 깊이 잠들자, 공주는 닭을 부르러 자리를 피할 수 있도록 머리들 아래에 의자와 방석을 받쳐 놓았습니다.

The soldier then came in in his stockinged feet and struck at the troll, so that eight of the heads fell off at one blow.

병사는 양말만 신은 발로 살금살금 들어와 트롤을 내리쳐서, 한 번의 일격에 여덟 개의 머리가 떨어져 나갔습니다.

But the sword was too short and did not reach far enough; the ninth head woke up and began to roar.

그러나 칼이 너무 짧아 충분히 닿지 않았고, 아홉 번째 머리가 깨어나 으르렁거리기 시작했습니다.

"Ugh! Ugh! I smell a Christian."

"윽! 윽! 기독교인 냄새가 나는군."

"Yes, here he is," answered the soldier, and before the troll could get up and seize hold of him the soldier struck him another blow and the last head rolled along the floor.

"그래, 바로 여기 있다," 병사가 대답했고, 트롤이 일어나 그를 붙잡기 전에 병사는 다시 한 번 내리쳐서 마지막 머리가 바닥을 굴러갔습니다.

You can well imagine how glad the _Princesses_ became now that they no longer had to sit and scratch the trolls' heads; they did not know how they could do enough for him who had saved them.

공주들이 더 이상 트롤들의 머리를 긁어주며 앉아 있지 않아도 된다는 것을 알고 얼마나 기뻐했을지 충분히 상상할 수 있을 것입니다. 그들은 자신들을 구해준 그에게 어떻게 충분히 보답할 수 있을지 몰랐습니다.

The youngest _Princess_ took off her gold ring and knotted it in his hair.
