But the young man refused to do it.

तब लोमड़ी ने कहा, 'मैं कम से कम तुम्हें अच्छी सलाह तो दे सकता हूँ।

So the fox said, 'I will at any rate give you good counsel.

दो बातों से सावधान रहना: किसी को फाँसी से मत छुड़ाना, और किसी नदी के किनारे मत बैठना।'

Beware of two things; ransom no one from the gallows, and sit down by the side of no river.'

फिर वह चला गया।

Then away he went.

युवक ने सोचा, 'इस सलाह को मानना कोई कठिन काम नहीं है।'

'Well,' thought the young man, 'it is no hard matter to keep that advice.'

वह राजकुमारी के साथ घोड़े पर सवार होकर चलता रहा, जब तक कि वह उस गाँव में नहीं पहुँच गया जहाँ उसने अपने दोनों भाइयों को छोड़ा था।

He rode on with the princess, till at last he came to the village where he had left his two brothers.

वहाँ उसने बहुत शोर-गुल और हंगामा सुना।

And there he heard a great noise and uproar.

जब उसने पूछा कि क्या बात है, तो लोगों ने कहा, 'दो आदमियों को फाँसी दी जाने वाली है।'

And when he asked what was the matter, the people said, 'Two men are going to be hanged.'

जब वह पास गया, तो उसने देखा कि वे दोनों आदमी उसके भाई थे, जो डाकू बन गए थे।

As he came nearer, he saw that the two men were his brothers, who had turned robbers.

उसने कहा, 'क्या इन्हें किसी तरह बचाया नहीं जा सकता?'

So he said, 'Cannot they in any way be saved?'

लेकिन लोगों ने कहा, 'नहीं,' जब तक कि वह इन बदमाशों पर अपना सारा पैसा न लुटा दे और उनकी आज़ादी न खरीद ले।

But the people said 'No,' unless he would bestow all his money upon the rascals and buy their liberty.

तब उसने इस बारे में सोचने में एक पल भी नहीं गँवाया, बल्कि जो माँगा गया वह चुका दिया।

Then he did not stay to think about the matter, but paid what was asked.

और उसके भाइयों को छोड़ दिया गया, और वे उसके साथ उनके घर की ओर चल पड़े।

And his brothers were given up, and went on with him towards their home.

और जब वे उस जंगल में पहुँचे जहाँ पहली बार लोमड़ी उनसे मिली थी, तो वहाँ इतनी ठंडक और सुहावनापन था।

And as they came to the wood where the fox first met them, it was so cool and pleasant.

कि दोनों भाइयों ने कहा, 'चलो नदी के किनारे बैठते हैं, और थोड़ी देर आराम करते हैं, खाते-पीते हैं।'

That the two brothers said, 'Let us sit down by the side of the river, and rest a while, to eat and drink.'
