Light O' the Morning: The Story of an Irish Girl — Page 1

English → Vi CHAPTER II. Level 4/10

"SOME MORE OF THE LAND MUST GO."

"MỘT PHẦN ĐẤT NỮA PHẢI ĐI THÔI."

Squire O'Shanaghgan was a tall, powerfully built man, with deep-set eyes and rugged, overhanging brows; his hair was of a grizzled gray, very thick and abundant; he had a shaggy beard, too, and a long overhanging mustache.

He entered the north parlor still more noisily than Nora had done.

The dogs yelped with delight, and flung themselves upon him.

"Down, Creena! down, Cushla!" he said.

"Xuống, Creena! xuống, Cushla!" ông nói.

"Ah, then, Nora, they are as bewitching as yourself, little woman.

"Ồ thôi nào, Nora, chúng duyên dáng chẳng kém gì cô đâu, cô bé ạ.

What beauties they are growing, to be sure!"

Chúng đang lớn lên xinh đẹp thật đấy, chắc chắn vậy!"

"I reared them," said Nora.

"Tôi đã nuôi chúng," Nora nói.

"I am proud of them both.

"Tôi tự hào về cả hai con.

At one time I thought Creena could not live; but look at her now--her coat as black as jet, and so silky."

"Shut the door, won't you, Patrick?" said his wife.

"Đóng cửa lại đi, Patrick?" vợ ông nói.

"Bless me! I forgot," said the Squire.

"Ôi trời! Tôi quên mất," Squire nói.

He crossed the room, and, with an effort after quietness, closed the door with one foot; then he seated himself by his wife's side.

Ông đi qua phòng và, cố gắng nhẹ nhàng, đóng cửa bằng một chân; rồi ông ngồi xuống bên cạnh vợ.

"Better, Eileen?" he said, looking at her anxiously.

"Khỏe hơn chưa, Eileen?" ông nói, nhìn bà một cách lo lắng.

"I wish you would not call me Eileen," she said.

"Tôi ước gì anh đừng gọi tôi là Eileen," bà nói.

"I hate to have my name Irishized."

"Tôi ghét bị người ta Ireland hóa cái tên của mình."

The Squire's eyes filled with suppressed fun.

Đôi mắt của Squire ánh lên vẻ tinh nghịch kìm nén.

"Ah, but you are half-Irish, whether you like it or not," he said.

"Ồ, nhưng bà là người nửa Ireland, dù bà có thích hay không," ông nói.

"Is not she, colleen?

"Có phải không nào, cô bé?

Bless me, what a day it has turned out!

Ôi trời, hôm nay thời tiết thật tuyệt!

We are getting summer weather at last.

What do you say to going for a drive, Eileen--Ellen, I mean?
