파리의 어둡고 약간 시무룩한 표정은 어릿광대의 우스꽝스러운 가면을 어느 정도 떠올리게 했고, 피콜리시마는 파리의 얼굴을 보며 웃음으로써 입술로 어떻게 웃는지 보여주려던 참이었습니다.

이렇게 말하면서, 파리는 눈 바로 아래 머리 중앙의 구멍에서 두세 개의 마디가 있는 주둥이를 반쯤 내밀었습니다. 끝부분에는 두 개의 검은 입술처럼 접힌, 홈이나 작은 오목한 부분이 있는 입구가 있었습니다.
