"Poor Father! But, after today, God willing, he will suffer no longer."

"Tội nghiệp Cha! Nhưng, sau hôm nay, nếu Chúa cho phép, ông sẽ không còn phải khổ nữa."

"Why?"

"Tại sao vậy?"

"Because I have become a rich man."

"Vì tôi đã trở thành người giàu có."

"You, a rich man?" said the Fox, and he began to laugh out loud.

"Anh, giàu có?" con Cáo nói, và nó bắt đầu cười to.

The Cat was laughing also, but tried to hide it by stroking his long whiskers.

Con Mèo cũng đang cười, nhưng cố giấu đi bằng cách vuốt bộ râu dài của mình.

"There is nothing to laugh at," cried Pinocchio angrily.

"Không có gì để cười cả," Pinocchio tức giận kêu lên.

"I am very sorry to make your mouth water, but these, as you know, are five new gold pieces."

"Tôi rất tiếc khi làm các bạn thèm thuồng, nhưng đây, như các bạn biết, là năm đồng tiền vàng mới."

And he pulled out the gold pieces which Fire Eater had given him.

Và cậu lấy ra những đồng tiền vàng mà Kẻ Ăn Lửa đã tặng cho cậu.

At the cheerful tinkle of the gold, the Fox unconsciously held out his paw that was supposed to be lame, and the Cat opened wide his two eyes till they looked like live coals, but he closed them again so quickly that Pinocchio did not notice.

Khi nghe tiếng lanh canh vui tai của vàng, con Cáo vô tình giơ ra cái chân được cho là bị thương của nó, còn con Mèo mở to hai mắt đến mức trông như hai cục than hồng, nhưng nó nhắm lại rất nhanh đến nỗi Pinocchio không kịp nhận ra.

"And may I ask," inquired the Fox, "what you are going to do with all that money?"

"First of all," answered the Marionette, "I want to buy a fine new coat for my father, a coat of gold and silver with diamond buttons; after that, I'll buy an A-B-C book for myself."

"Look at me," said the Fox. "For the silly reason of wanting to study, I have lost a paw."
