With one great leap, he grasped that bundle in his mouth and, holding it lightly between his teeth, ran through the door and disappeared like a flash!

The Fisherman, angry at seeing his meal snatched from under his nose, ran after the Dog, but a bad fit of coughing made him stop and turn back.

Người Ngư Phủ, tức giận khi thấy bữa ăn bị giật ngay trước mũi mình, chạy đuổi theo con Chó, nhưng một cơn ho dữ dội khiến ông phải dừng lại và quay trở về.

Meanwhile, Alidoro, as soon as he had found the road which led to the village, stopped and dropped Pinocchio softly to the ground.

Trong khi đó, Alidoro, ngay khi tìm được con đường dẫn vào làng, dừng lại và nhẹ nhàng đặt Pinocchio xuống đất.

"How much I do thank you!" said the Marionette.

"Tôi thật sự rất biết ơn bạn!" con Rối nói.

"It is not necessary," answered the Dog. "You saved me once, and what is given is always returned. We are in this world to help one another."

"Không cần thiết đâu," con Chó trả lời. "Bạn đã từng cứu tôi, và điều gì cho đi thì luôn được đáp lại. Chúng ta ở trên đời này là để giúp đỡ lẫn nhau."

"But how did you get in that cave?"

"Nhưng làm sao bạn vào được cái hang đó vậy?"

"I was lying here on the sand more dead than alive, when an appetizing odor of fried fish came to me. That odor tickled my hunger and I followed it. Oh, if I had come a moment later!"

"Tôi đang nằm trên bãi cát gần như chết hơn sống, thì mùi cá chiên thơm lừng bay đến. Mùi đó kích thích cơn đói của tôi và tôi đi theo nó. Ôi, nếu tôi đến muộn hơn một chút!"

"Don't speak about it," wailed Pinocchio, still trembling with fright. "Don't say a word. If you had come a moment later, I would be fried, eaten, and digested by this time. Brrrrrr! I shiver at the mere thought of it."

"Đừng nói đến chuyện đó nữa," Pinocchio than thở, vẫn còn run rẩy vì sợ hãi. "Đừng nói một lời nào. Nếu bạn đến muộn hơn một chút, giờ này tôi đã bị chiên, bị ăn, và bị tiêu hóa rồi. Brrrrrr! Tôi rùng mình chỉ khi nghĩ đến thôi."

Alidoro laughingly held out his paw to the Marionette, who shook it heartily, feeling that now he and the Dog were good friends. Then they bid each other good-by and the Dog went home.

Alidoro cười và đưa chân ra cho con Rối, con Rối bắt lấy thật nhiệt tình, cảm thấy rằng giờ đây nó và con Chó đã là bạn tốt của nhau. Rồi họ chào tạm biệt nhau và con Chó trở về nhà.
